One of the standout dishes is the Spicy Cold Niku Udon. Many reviews praise it as the "best noodles" they've ever tasted, and for good reason. This dish features perfectly prepared, chewy noodles accompanied by exceptionally tender, thin slices of brisket, all enhanced by a flavorful and aromatic chili oil that strikes a harmonious balance rather than overwhelming heat. Customers recommend this dish wholeheartedly—don't miss it!
Those who venture into the hot udon offerings are equally rewarded. The Hot Niku Udon is lighter and refreshing, making it an excellent choice for colder days. Reviewers frequently highlight the handmade udon noodles’ unique texture, claiming it's a stark contrast to mass-produced options. Many patrons admire the thoughtfulness behind the ingredients, noting that even the broth is perfectly seasoned, providing a comforting bowl of warmth, especially after a chilly Boston stroll.

We came at 5:15 and were seated right away. Menu is only 8 items, 4 hot & 4 cold. We wanted to try both and they were all very good! I would probably get the hot one over the cold in the future, but both were good. Also got the spicy, which was a good amount of spice.

This small udon restaurant was a trip to get to, but such a treat for a cold day! We stood outside in line for about half an hour since they only have a couple of small tables, but the line was pretty efficient and the servers had our orders taken while we were waiting to prevent any delays. As soon as we sat down, the food was ready. I tried the hot udon with no meat, and it tasted light and refreshing, especially considering the cold we came came from outside! The handmade udon noodles had the perfect bouncy texture, and they are easily distinguishable from factory made noodles due to their imperfections. I really loved these noodles and I think they made the dish 100X better. We also tried the cold Niku, which was more acidic and seafood-y, but just as delicious. Next time, I will definitely try the hot soup with meat, as I think just the noodles was a little bland for me. I would still recommend this spot to anyone in the area if you are ok with waiting!

Best noodles I have ever eaten. This place is tucked inside The Superette in Seaport. Seaport isn't all that great for parking unless you're fine with paying absurd garage rates. I personally park in Boston Common Garage and make the 25-30min walk. After all, you need to make that meal rewarding! The inside is very plain. There are 4 tables, and each one seats only 2 people. You will also sit very close to the adjacent tables, so don't expect to come here for long intimate talks with your date. Sit down, eat, leave. The bar also seats about 10 people. This is a very busy location. We only got a seat because we arrived at 4:00pm on a Thursday. Good luck if you try to come here on a Saturday or Sunday night. As for food... Spicy Cold Niku Udon - EVERYONE SHOULD ORDER THIS. This is the most delicious bowl of noodles I have ever had the pleasure of eating. There is ZERO HEAT to this dish. The 'spicy' in the name is purely flavor. I normally don't enjoy udon noodles, but they had a lovely bite and texture when served cold. The shaved beef is f**king delicious too. I think I devoured my bowl in 3 minutes, I couldn't control myself. Hot Niku Udon - I didn't particularly find this bowl any special. My wife was quite unimpressed, and we don't really have anything to say about this. The beef was good, but since the broth fairly is unremarkable, this bowl really needed a lot more toppings to elevate it. I will still give the Food a 5/5 because... I am going to dream of those cold noodles for a while. For anyone interested, my very close 2nd favorite noodles are Somenya's 'Spicy Beef Soba/Udon' in Cold Sauce. If Yume is 10/10, then Somenya is 9.5/10.

I went to the Porter Square location a few days ago and loved it so much, I had to try the South Boston location as well. Safe to say, the udon was consistent with their original location. This location is smaller than the newly renovated Porter Square location, so there was a line and I had to wait ~15-30 mins to get seated. They are very efficient. We placed our orders while waiting in the line outside, received our food within minutes after being seated, and paid very immediately after our meal. I ordered the Cold Niku Udon. The flavor profile of this dish is pretty much the same as any regular udon, whereas the Spicy Cold Niku Udon has a more prominent chili oil flavor. After trying both dishes, I personally prefer the Spicy Cold Niku Udon, but both dishes are still really good and have chewy, bouncy noodles. Can't wait to come back soon again!

This place in the waterfront is very clean, with friendly staff...but the indoor dining is tiny. Upon arrival for lunch on a weekend, there was a short line outside. The staff hands people a menu and sometimes takes your order just prior to your seating time. This keeps the line moving quick and clears out dining space efficiently. I was only handled a menu, but the folks behind me were seated and promptly served food! The menu has 4 cold options and 4 hot options. There are also a bunch of add-ons or extras, and some drinks. The cold dishes are served with a wider bowl, or you can get a smaller hot bowl of the same thing for $2 more. We got the same udon dish, one cold and one hot. They were flavorful and had really flavorful and tender thing slices of meat. It was a good combination. My hot udon also had very tiny little shrimp which added to my enjoyment. The broth is delicious and the noodles were cooked perfectly to my taste. I really enjoyed it. I didn't think the cold dish would be good but I had a few bites of that and it was good too...maybe perfect for hotter summer days. It was cold the day we went. Pricing is about what you'd expect for the area and type of food. I would recommend this place and would come back, if I can ever find a parking space again. There are meters outside but it is hard to come by.

I came here on a Tuesday evening around 6pm and there was one group waiting outside. Since I was just a party of 1, they were able to seat me inside immediately at the bar. It's a nice small shop tucked in an alley and the service is quite quick. I ordered the Hot Spicy Niku Udon and the broth was delicious! My only complaint was that the noodles were a little overcooked. I want to come back and try the signature cold Niku noodles though.

Their spicy cold niku udon (with an onsen egg) is a must try if you come here! Flavourful, soft and unique, I definitely have to try their soup udon option next! Service was fast and a cozy place, expect a line if you come around lunch.

Only noods and I mean only udon noods. Yume Ga Arukara serves Boston's best udon (you won't find anything else here except udon). Have you ever tried cold udon? Not me at least before visiting YGA. I'm not about to be one of those people who make everything unnecessarily deep but let me just say this: never be afraid to try new things or go beyond the limits of what you already know because you might be pleasantly surprised that what you'll love is just one step outside your comfort zone. This is all to say... Get YGA's cold niku udon. Just. do. it. I seriously love everything about the cold udon; the QQQ freshly made udon noods, the flavorful soy sauce base and the perfectly cooked brisket (yummm). They have strict SOP's here and weigh each component so that every bowl comes out consistently. Can I petition for more brisket though?! I'm not sure how they do this but the udon isn't cold, cold. It's served at just the right refreshing temperature (we're not talking brain freeze shocking kind of cold lol). This seaport location is the second location to their original one near Lesley College. YGA also has a sister concept that makes ramen only called Yume Wo Katare. I have had to wait upwards of 30 minutes every time I've visited the seaport location but it seems other people have been pretty lucky stopping in before or after lunch/dinner rush without a wait. The decor inside is warm with lots of light colored wood. It's much bigger and more modern than their original location. Service is fast and there is an unspoken pace here that makes you order, eat and leave ASAP. You can't really be catching up with friends here for hours. Udon know how many times I crave the cold udon here. I highly recommend YGA!

The udon here is so fresh and chewy. I think the cold udon makes it taste even bouncier than the hot udon. There's still sauce and the noodles soak it all up. My friend tried the spicy cold udon which was also good and had a yummy chili oil. We went at around 1:30 and had to wait 40 minutes to get in since there's not a lot of seating inside. But they do take your order while you're waiting and they're really fast with getting your food out. But as such I would recommend going right when they open or ordering pick up if you don't want to wait.
